RANDAZZO AND PIANIGIANI THREW OFF THEIR OPPONENTS!!!

Strongman Italia had great success with the public for its first stage!!!

 

 

Cavour (Turin), April 15, 2012.

The first Italian Strongman championship, organized by FIS.MAN, had a great start. There were 16 athletes who took part in the memorable first leg in Cavour.

For the ExtraClass category (under 91 Kg) there were: Fissore Ramon, Garizio Paolo, Gioia Francesco, Greppi Ivan, Guccione Marco, Lisco Alex, Maccarone Simone, Moregola Christian, Pianigiani Lorenzo and Pizzo Ezio.

For the SuperClass category (over 91 Kg) there were: Conti Massimo, Giomini Andrea, Grimaldi Antonio, Guidi Marco, Randazzo Claudio and Volpe Mattia.

The first heat, called “Tipping Tires”, was split into 2 parts: on the outward the competitors had to capsize a tyre (of 180 Kg for the ExtraClass category and of 240 Kg for the SuperClass category), whereas on the way back they had to cover 25 metres carrying a keg of beer of 70 Kg.

In the second heat, the “Truck Pulling”, the competitors had to pull a tractor of 6 tons. Nevertheless, none of the 16 athletes won: they tried and tried, only a few of the SuperClass competitors succeeded in moving the tractor for a few millimetres, but the vehicle remained almost motionless at the starting line.

The last exciting heat was “Il Cinquino”, the Italian version of the “Car walking”: the athletes had to get into an old Fiat 500 and to carry it on their shoulders for a maximum of 30 metres in one minute, or before exhausting all their penalty bonus.

The SuperClass competitors had to lift 240 Kg, the ExtraClass ones 195 Kg.

The day ended with the awards to all athletes, who received some gift packages of local products, given by the town of Cavour. Moreover, the first three athletes of the overall placings received further food awards, medals and cups, still given by the town of Cavour by means of local business sponsorship.

The final winner of the SuperClass category, Randazzo Claudio, also received a trophy offered by the body of promoting sport MSP as a prize. Randazzo was awarded by the FIS.MAN President Comini Francesco, by the Vice-President Legnaioli Andrea and by the town councillor Joseph Cavallo.

The next match for the first EventShow signed by Strongman Italia will take place on May 19 in Pontedera (Pisa) with 5 heats: Vitruvian Man, Slides, Il Cinquino, Truck Pulling and Tipping Tires!
